Check each active ingredient before you pack. A prescription alone does not authorize you to bring a controlled medicine into Korea.
Before travel
- List each medicine’s active ingredient, strength, daily dose and total quantity. Include non-prescription medicines and supplements.
- Check the ingredient with MFDS. Medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances require permission before entry, regardless of nationality.
- Use the current application instructions and English manual in the MFDS notice below. Online applications have been available since December 27, 2024. Confirm the required documents and processing time before booking travel.
- Do not assume that a medicine sold legally at home is allowed in Korea. Ask MFDS specifically about cannabis or CBD products and any uncertain ingredient.
Pack and plan
- Keep medicines in their labeled original containers. Carry your prescription, medicine list and any required permit.
- Ask your prescriber about a supply for the trip, storage and time-zone changes. Confirm permitted quantities with Korean authorities.
- Show your complete medicine list to the treating clinician before a procedure. Do not stop or change a medicine on your own.

- Does this ingredient require a permit? Which documents and quantities must the application show?
- What should I do if travel dates change or my medicine is lost?
- Who can review interactions with medicines prescribed during my visit?
