Confirm whether you need gastroscopy, colonoscopy or another test, and why. Preparation and recovery instructions depend on the procedure and your health.
Prepare with the care team
- Tell the team about symptoms, medicines, allergies and possible pregnancy. Get written food, drink, bowel-preparation and medicine instructions for your test.
- Do not change medicines yourself. Ask which sedation, biopsy and laboratory charges are included before agreeing.
Arrange recovery and urgent help
- Follow the team's escort, supervision and driving restrictions after sedation. Get written instructions for symptoms after discharge.
- After gastroscopy, vomiting blood, breathing difficulty, or severe or worsening chest or abdominal pain needs immediate emergency care. In Korea, call 119.
Make sure results reach you
- Ask when the procedure report and any biopsy results will be ready, and who will explain them.
- Confirm how to receive records securely after leaving Korea. Arrange follow-up for abnormal results; silence does not mean a normal result.
