Korean Medicine and Wellness Programs: What Foreign Visitors Should Know

Ask whether a program provides wellness activities, medical treatment or both. A wellness label does not establish that a treatment is safe for you.

Before booking

  • Confirm who provides each service and their role and qualifications.
  • Ask whether the package includes acupuncture, herbal products, cupping, heat or manual treatment. Ask about risks and alternatives.
  • Give the clinician your medicine and supplement list. Discuss pregnancy, allergies, existing conditions and recent procedures directly with them.

Before taking a herbal product

  • Ask for the product name, ingredients, dose and duration in writing.
  • Herbal products can interact with medicines. Ask a qualified clinician or pharmacist to review the combination.
  • Do not replace prescribed treatment or delay needed medical care because of a wellness package.

Before leaving

  • Request a treatment summary, product details and follow-up contact.
  • Ask which symptoms require medical attention and whom to contact.
  • Check rules for taking products to your next destination. A product’s availability in Korea does not establish import permission elsewhere.
